The New and Improved MyGene Website

by Ginger Tsueng

Unless you're viewing this post from an RSS feed reader or something, you may have notice that MyGene.info has undergone a HUGE cosmetic improvement! This is thanks to the hard work of Marco who has been working on updating the BioThings, MyGene, MyVariant, and the near-non-existant MyChem websites.

The previous MyGene.info website was composed of a ghost blog and a mish-mash of pages created through other service providers. This made the content of our website very confusing for search engines since many core pages on the site existed elsewhere with no way to indicate or link the page back to MyGene.info. For SEO and uniformity, the outside pages were embedded within iframes which made them clunky and less responsive.

With the redesigned site, more of the pages are retained internally reducing the need for iframes and allowing for improved SEO.
